Mr. James Brentlinger ( JB ) is a certified Epstein hitting instructor and was an assistant to the legend Mike Baldwin at Future Pro for the past 6 years. He has been coaching softball for 15 years. He has coached: Fern Creek Babe Ruth 2002- 2005, 5 Softball Travel Teams 2005 -2012, DuPont Manual High School Assistant Coach 2010 - 2013, Derby City Crush 16u  2016, Lady Sluggers 16U 2018, and is currently the Head Coach at Jeffersontown High School. While at Jeffersontown High School he has led the team to the most victories in school history since 2001 and has also made it into the KHSAA Record books during the same season when J-Town as a team posted 25 Homeruns on the season, for that he was voted 6th Region Coach of the Year by his peers. He is also currently the Head Coach of the KC Freedom 16u Team.

SOFTBALL PITCHING

AJA SHERMAN

Ms. Aja Sherman is originally from Las Vegas Nevada and started playing when she was 11 years old. She Played for various travel ball teams and was eventually recruited and signed to play First Base/Pitcher for the University of Louisville in Kentucky, 2002–2005. During her time at UofL she split playing time between Pitching and First Base, was named All Conference First Team twice, and was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year in 2005. She is the only UofL softball pitcher to have pitched a Perfect Game, she was the first UofL player to play professional softball, playing for the Arizona Heat in 2005 amongst many Olympic athletes, and she also played overseas, for Miramar in Wellington New Zealand. Because of her deep love for the game and competitive nature she currently still plays in the Louisville Lyndon 18 over Women's Fastpitch League. Aja has been teaching Pitching for 18 year, has helped coach at the UofL's Camps and Clinics, was an assistant coach at Sacred Heart Academy 2007-2008, coached while overseas in New Zealand 2008-2009, and has held camps and clinics throughout her coaching career. She looks forward to helping more athletes gain a better understanding of the game of softball and to help them improve, grow, and stay competitive throughout their careers.

SOFTBALL/BASEBALL CATCHING

RICK PHILLIPS

Mr. Rick Phillips is started playing baseball in his hometown of Gaithersburg, MD when he was 8 years old.  He started his high school career playing shortstop and pitching, but quickly found his position of catcher by his sophomore year.  He played catcher through high school and was recruited to play at several schools in the mid-Atlantic.  Rick decided to attend the University of Maryland Baltimore County to play baseball and study mechanical engineering from 206-2011.  After splitting time behind the plate for the first couple years, he served as team captain and was the team’s primary catcher during his junior and senior seasons.  Upon graduation in 2011, Rick accepted a job at GE Appliances in Louisville, where he continues to work today.  In 2012 Rick joined the coaching staff at Future Pro Baseball and Softball School and coached there for 5 years focusing primarily on catching instruction.  He looks forward to coaching catchers of all skill levels, helping each one improve their skills and understanding of the best position in the game.

AMANDA GRINNAN

Ms. Amanda Grinnan is from Louisville, Kentucky and started playing softball at Lyndon Recreation at the age of 5. It was at Lyndon she found her calling as a catcher. Since then she played travel ball for Lyndon Recreation from the age of 10-17 years of age. During her travel ball years, she has won numerous awards and made All-Star teams.  As a high school player Amanda played for Assumption High School where she continued to thrive as a catcher. After high school Amanda decided to not continue her collegiate fast pitch career. She decided to continue her love for fast pitch by coaching younger athletes develop their skills through private lessons. Amanda still plays fast pitch in Lyndon Recreation’s Women’s Open Fast Pitch League.
